The Greenfield Historical Society recently assisted Richard Haviland of Menasha in editing an improved second edition of his 217 page SPLENDID GALLANTRY about the all-German 26th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment that had one of the Union's highest casualty rates. (Only seven of 23 Greenfield men escaped death, wounds, or capture.) Historical societies in Milwaukee, Washington, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Dane, and Green Lake counties may be especially interested in having local libraries obtain a copy of this entertainingly-written book. Available at Amazon.com--- or from the author autographed with shipping prepaid for $27.50 Contact rhaviland1@new.rr.com
