Displaying copies is preferable. Keep you originals in a protected environment away from light and other damaging factors. Even if your original is black and white, a color copy tends to capture more of the detail.
Good luck with your exhibit.

Subject: Display question
We are working on a display about Bunads and have some fragile old illustrations of Norwegian Bunads. Is it acceptable to make copies of them for the display? Other suggestions?
Thanks,
Diane
