Jack Holzhueter, well known voice of Wisconsin history and now
retired from the Wisconsin Historical Society will speak at 1:00 pm on
Saturday, August 23 at Montello City Hall on how to look at historic
photographs. Specifically, Jack will take an in-depth look at the
photography of Dr. E. A. Bass. Bass was a Montello physician and
amateur photographer whose work spans 1892-1905. His photographs are
the subject of the current exhibit of the Montello Historic Preservation
Society, Looking Back: The Photography of Dr. E. A. Bass, running
through October 26 at Vaughn Hall, 55 West Montello St (Hwy 23) in
Montello. City Hall is one half block west of Vaughn Hall on Hwy 23, at
20 Underwood Ave.
Jack is an excellent speaker and will certainly give an added
dimension to the photographs by providing historical background. There
will be ample opportunity for questions and comments. Admission is free.
