Where Christmas Begins!

The Historic Indian Agency House of Portage rings in the 2009 holiday seaso
n with the return of two popular events. This year’s Kiddie Christmas wil
l be held Wednesday, December 2nd, from 4 to 6PM in the Agency House Vi
sitors’ Center. Participants at this FREE event will help decorate the Ag
ency House tree by making old-fashioned Christmas ornaments, and will als
o get to paint a holiday pot and plant a paper-white bulb to take home. App
le cider and Christmas treats will refresh young guests, who will also en
joy a visit from Santa Claus. Despite his busy schedule, Santa has agreed
to a reading of the classic story “The Night Before Christmas.” All ac
tivity materials will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis
, so get there early for all the fun! (Last year we ran out of pots in 17
minutes!)
The following evening, on Thursday, December 3rd, from 6 to 8:30PM,
the Agency House hosts its annual holiday fundraising gala. Guests of “C
hristmas at the Kinzies” will enjoy a nostalgic night of good food and he
arty drink, even better conversation, and musical entertainment by Port
age talent Nathan Russell and his marimba. All proceeds from the event will
assist in the continued preservation and operation of the Historic Indian
Agency House. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple and are availabl
e at the Portage Chamber of Commerce and the Mercantile on Main Street. You

The Historic Indian Agency House is located at the end of Rustic Road 69,
just off Hwy 33 east of Portage. Show your support of this long-standing l
