POSITION: Curator/Assistant Director
The Foundation is looking for a professional, self-motivated,
dependable, and creative individual who possesses an ability to exercise
mature judgment, prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously,
organize, and perform work independently. The successful candidate
should also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to
recruit/motivate volunteers.
This person would be hired in anticipation that, if the individual
performs to expectations, he/she would take over as Executive Director
in the next 1-3 years.
Essential Duties:
a.. Administration: Volunteer & seasonal docent management
b.. Collections: Oversee the preservation, cataloging and exhibition
of the Museum's collection of artifacts. Seek new acquisitions.
c.. Research
d.. Grant writing
e.. Provide tours to museum visitors when needed
f.. Provide support for exhibits
g.. Provide support for outreach
h.. Provide support for programming
i.. Provide support for fundraising
Requirements:
· College degree (Master's in history-related field
preferred)
· Work experience in a related field preferred
· Strong leadership skills with management experience
preferred
· An energetic and innovative mindset
· Staff and budget management capability
· Fundraising capability
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal, public
speaking and writing skills
· A strong interest in working collaboratively
· Proficiency in the use of computers for word
processing, financial management, e-mail and internet
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience in a senior
curatorial or archives management position with a non-profit historical
organization, and have a sound financial understanding and management
skills.
Hours are 40+ during the summer season, 30+ winter; salary to be
determined based on qualifications. with an additional contribution
toward health insurance, if desired, SIMPLE IRA match after 1 year, 2
weeks vacation, holiday pay.
