The Great River Road River Festival Stonefield Historic Site Saturday, June 15, 2013

Working Along the Great River Road

 * Carriage rides provided by Randy Morshead (11 am – 4 pm)
 * Antique Tractor display provided by members of the Grant County Antiqu es and Collectors Club. (11 am – 4 pm)
 * Log cutting demonstration with the opening of the new Stonefield circl e saw exhibit. (12, 2)
 * Wheelwright demonstrations provided by Warren Svecum (11 am – 4 pm)
 * Blacksmithing 11 am to 3 pm
· Nelson Dewey house tours: 11 am to 3 pm
· Historic games: 11 am, and 2 pm

· School program: 11 am to 3 pm
· Farm house program: 10 am to 3 pm
· Farmers store program: 10 am to 3 pm
· Bee keeper program by the honey house by the 1900 farmstead

Taste of the Great River Road

 * Catfish dinner provided by Valley Fish & Cheese from Prairie du Chien,
 WI

 * Beer and root beer for sale in the Saloon
 * Sandwiches, ice cream etc. for sale in the confectionary

Natural History Along the Great River Road

 * Program with Corps of Engineers 11 am
 * Program with Department of Natural Resources 12 noon
 * Bat program with Kent Borcherding 1 pm
 * Program with Ron White former barge pilot 2 pm
 * Red Shouldered Hawk program with Jon Stravers 3 pm

River Music

 * La Barge – Roger and Mandy La Barge, father and daughter musicians p laying original river music as well as classic rock 10 am – 11 am, 1 -2 p m
 * Jon Stravers and members of the Big Blue Sky, original river music 11a m – noon, 2 -3 pm

Throughout 2013 the Wisconsin Mississippi River Parkway Commission is celeb rating 75 years of traveling the Wisconsin Great River Road National Scenic
 Byway. Take a short drive and you will step into another day and time trav eling winding two-lane roads along the Mississippi River, through river val leys or up to the top of the river bluffs. Visit the enchanting, historic r iver towns and enter into a time when life centered around Main Street and small town values. Enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds you from all sid es with a hike, a kayak trip, a bicycle ride or just look out over the Miss issippi River Valley views from the top of a bluff.

Established in 1938 by President Roosevelt from existing local roads, auto tours & state trunk roads along the Mississippi River, the Mississippi River Parkway Commission, caretaker of t he Great River Road, is officially 75 years old in 2013. This collection of
 roads runs 3000 miles from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. In Wisconsin, the
 Great River Road is the state’s only National Scenic Byway; voted Pretti est Drive: Ultimate Summer Road Trip in the United States in 2012.

Travel the Wisconsin segment of the Great River Road along the Mississippi River and enjoy beautiful river & bluff views … offering some of the best viewing and road trip opportuniti es along the entire length of the 3000 mile Great River Road system. A green pilot’s wheel symbol on white signs
