Report Highlight - Target Donors Report
Melissa Sheinman
With the end of the year quickly approaching, you may want to send out targeted mailings to contacts who have given donations in past years but not yet in the current year. PastPerfect 5.0’s “Target Donors Donation Summary” report can help you easily find contacts that fit these criteria (available in 5.0C1 or higher).
To use the “Target Donors Donation Summary” report, begin at the Main Menu of PastPerfect and click “Reports.” Under Report Types, click “Dues & Donations” and scroll down to the “Target Donors Donation Summary” report. Click “Run Selected Report” to bring up a screen with options for narrowing the report to fit your needs. This report gives you the ability to narrow your results by date range and fund.
In the example below the goal is to find a list of target donors based on a date range, so most of the default settings are not changed. To find contacts who have given a donation in 2012 but not in 2013, enter the date ranges as follows:
Donated Between: 01/01/2012 and 12/31/2012
But Did Not Donate Between: 01/01/2013 and 12/31/2013
The left side of the "Target Donors Donation Summary" window will look like this:
Once the dates are entered, the contacts meeting these criteria can be added to an existing contact list by clicking “Save Results to a Contact List” and selecting the list. [To create a list, go to Contact Lists from the Main Menu and click “Create a New List”.] You can now easily contact these people and encourage them to consider donating before the year is through.
If you would like to learn more about contacts management and development in PastPerfect, please consider our upcoming online training class, Managing Contacts, Donations and Membership with PastPerfect 5.0. The class is December 10-12 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET, and seats are still available.

Upcoming Grant Information

Attention Native American, Native Alaskan, and Native Hawaiian Museums:
I attended a webinar recently on how to apply for a FY2014 Native American/Native Hawaiian Museum Services Program grant. This program provides an opportunity to fund both collections stewardship and online collections sharing projects. Allowable costs include software, computers, and services like technical support.
Institutions may apply for awards that range between $5000 and $50,000. No cost sharing is required; however, projects with cost sharing and that show community support are encouraged. Please note that some application forms have changed, and the new “Digital Content Supplementary Information” form helps organizations describe the project’s technical details outside of the narrative.
Please be sure that your organization has a DUNS Number and current registrations with Sam.gov and Grants.gov. Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov by December 2, 2013. For more information about the application process, eligibility, and helpful recorded webinars, please visit http://imls.gov/applicants/detail.aspx?GrantId=17<http://comm100email20.com/Newsletter/Newsletter_Click.aspx?version=4&type=0&EmailId=503&EmailMessageId=995&UserOrContactId=13491&siteId=45720&LinkId=1967>. IMLS program staff welcome questions and encourage applicants to start early and submit early. Contact Sandra Narva – snarva@imls.gov<mailto:snarva@imls.gov> or Sarah Glass - sglass@imls.gov<mailto:sglass@imls.gov>.

"On November 5, 1940, Franklin Delano Roosevelt is re-elected for an unprecedented third term as president of the United States.
Roosevelt was elected to a third term with the promise of maintaining American neutrality as far as foreign wars were concerned: "Let no man or woman thoughtlessly or falsely talk of American people sending its armies to European fields." But as Hitler's war spread, and the desperation of Britain grew, the president fought for passage of the Lend-Lease Act in Congress, in March 1941, which would commit financial aid to Great Britain and other allies. In August, Roosevelt met with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill to proclaim the Atlantic Charter, which would become the basis of the United Nations; they also drafted a statement to the effect that the United States "would be compelled to take countermeasures" should Japan further encroach in the southwest Pacific."
