The National Endowment for the Humanities has published the guidelines for Preservation Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions Program. The grant application deadline is May 5, 2015. Funded projects would begin
 January 2016. The National Endowment for the Humanities Preservation Assistance Grants he lp small and mid-sized cultural heritage institutions such as libraries, mu seums, historical societies, archival repositories, town and county records
 offices, and colleges and universities improve their ability to preserve a nd care for their humanities collections. Awards of up to $6000 support pre servation related collection assessments, consultations, and institutional and collaborative disaster and emergency planning. Preservation Assistance Grants also support education and training in best practices for sustaining
 digital collections, standards for digital preservation, and the care and handling of collections during digitization. Institutions may request funds
 for a preservation assessment of digital collections. NEH does not fund di gitization or the development of digital programs in this grant category. Training and workshops that focus on the preservation of collections is als o supported by Preservation Assistance Grants. In addition to workshops on traditional preservation, these grants will support education and training in digitization best practices as well as the management and preservation o f digital resources. LYRASIS offers a complete set of courses related to th e digitization of materials as well as digital preservation. Institutions c ould opt for a single class, a suite of classes or a course personalized fo r your institution. Additionally, LYRASIS can assist with preservation asse ssments of collections, providing identification, risk management, and gene ral management advice related to born digital or collections of digitized r esources as well as analog and hybrid collections.
