Subject: Civil War Training Camp for Kids Drill Instructor Needed!

Dear Fellow History People,

Back in 2011, the museum at which I was employed hosted a day camp for ki ds that attempted to replicate the experience of a Civil War training camp for Union soldiers.

At the time, staff and volunteers were able to fulfill all camp roles and
associated activities sufficiently--except for the very central role of a drill instructor.

I am now at a new museum (the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society, based in Mount Horeb), and found that camp to be such a great experience--for b oth the museum and the kids who attended--that I want to host a similar eve nt here.

In fact the date is set--Saturday, June 06, 2015. (The rest of the deta ils are not yet set, but I feel comfortable stating that the camp will ru n approximately from 9am to 4pm.)

But I find myself again in need of a Civil War educator to take on the role
of drill instructor, someone to put the kiddos through the paces of marc hing in formation and, hopefully, some gun drills, too. I am envision ing an instructor in Civil War garb--but that is not required.

We have incorporated a small volunteer stipend of $150 into the event budge t, which I hope will help offset the volunteer's travel and related costs
.

If you or someone you know would be interested in helping us out with this event, please email me at mthorebhistory@mhtc.net or call me at 608-437-6 486.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration!

Best Wishes,

Destinee K. Udelhoven
