That is a great idea, Jared!
We do have some involvement with students, but not on the board.
Would like to hear what other historical societies have to say about it....

-->Hello everyone. I’m looking to communicate with agencies/museums
that have a seat on their board of directors that is specifically for a hi
gh school/student member. My Board of Trustees is interested in the idea o
f having a seat for a student so that young people would have more of a buy
-in with our organization. Specifically, we are interested in the following
: --should we start with a student that is a sophomore, so that they can gr
ow into the position over the next couple of years, or a senior who has mor
e maturity? --what specific roles/tasks/duties does your student board memb
er have? How do they directly contribute to your organization through the
board? --how do you select your student board member when you have more tha
n one high school in the area you represent (ie. a county historical societ
y)? --do you open it up to public, private, and homeschool high school stud
ents? Again, how do you solicit “candidates” when you have
multiple schools? Thank you for any insight you can provide on this subjec
