It's almost spring which means it is time to plan for Historic Preservation
and Archaeology Month in May. If you have a May event related to the histo
ry of your community and its historic places, please submit it at the Wisco
nsin Historical Society's website- wihist.org/hpa-month. If the event meets
the criteria, we will feature it in the events calendar in May.
Types of events that work well for Historic Preservation and Archaeology Mo
nth:
* Community preservation awards
* Fundraiser
* Hands-on workshops in preservation techniques or lectures
* Historic markers & plaques dedication
* Host a presentation from the Wisconsin Historical Society
* House genealogy workshop
* Host a show in a historic theater
* Open houses
* Ask your local government to pass a historic preservation resolution
* Preservation/Restoration community service project
* Progressive dinner party of historic sites
* Walking tour
You can use these ideas for inspiration but don't be afraid to get creative
! Thank you and please get in touch with any questions about how to get you
r event on the calendar.
