Garage Sale for the Machine Shed
Please join the Caledonia Historical Village for a community wide garage sa
le on May 12th to raise money for the restoration of the “Botting M
achine Shed.”
The sale will be held from 9AM to 3PM on Saturday May 12th at the Caledonia
Historical Village (Five Mile Road and HWY 38). There will be a wide array
of items for sale from the Society’s one hundred plus families and
friends. A silent auction will be held throughout the day and a live auct
ion will be held at 2PM for the more rare and interesting items donated by
the community. The Society will also be hosting one of their famous bake sa
les along with a 50/50 raffle. A food court will be available as well.
All proceeds and donations go toward the renovation of the Botting Machine
Shed. This 70 by 24 foot machine shed is a rare example of a large, two st
ory Wisconsin style shed. Built by E.J. Botting at the turn of the centur
y, the shed used to reside on the Botting farm in the northeast corner of t
he village on Botting Road. The first floor of the building was for the st
orage of farm equipment while the second was used as a storage area for ani
mal feed.
Due to the uniqueness of this machine shed, the Caledonia Historical Societ
y asked to acquire and preserve the structure and move it to our historical
village. The society is in the middle of a three-year project to restore t
he shed and meet state requirements.
The Caledonia Historical Society is a totally volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit
organization dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the history of
Caledonia. We greatly appreciate your support in completing this significa
nt historical project.
