Good afternoon

My name is Ann Roe and I am president of the Foundation for the Preservation of 108 S. Jackson— home of the historic Janesville Woman’s Club Building. It was built in 1928 for women, by women. Distinguished guests include Eleanor Roosevelt and Frank Lloyd Wright. The building has been in continuous use since 1928 and is home to five clubs, the Janesville Art League whose gallery is on the upper floor featuring a collection dating back to the 1800’s, The American Association of University Women, Daughters of the American Revolution, MacDowell Music Club and the Janesville Woman’s Club Association— all five groups have been meeting in the building since the beginning.

The news? We are one of 20 projects in the US chosen to compete for a national grant to help with bricks and mortar repair. We are the only project in the state of Wisconsin. The project that earns the most votes, wins!

So please stay tuned and watch for the publicity on Tuesday, September 24 when the campaign kicks off. I will share voting details then. We would greatly appreciate your help and support. Meanwhile, make plans to visit our historic building. Downtown Janesville is coming out of its slump after GM closed and we are excited to show visitors all we have to offer.

Thank you. Please email with any questions. Follow us on Facebook or check out our website at www. janesvillewomansclub.com
