Sauk County, the Ho-Chunk Nation and the Sauk County Historical Society are
pleased to announce the following activities.
*Day of Restoration, October 12 – Multiple Locations 9:00AM - 4:00P
M *
*Prairie Restoration - Badger Property (Maa Wakacak) 9:00 - 12:00*
We’ll focus on removing invasive species and we may be able to coll
ect some
prairie seeds. Meet at the Parking Area next to the Badger Museum, at
8:45am.
*Community Mural Painting - Yellow Thunder Park 11:00 - 2:00*
Join award-winning artist and Ho-Chunk tribal member Kelly Logan in
creating a 4’x6’ painting of Chief Yellow Thunder. The pain
ting event will
take place from 11 am to 2 pm at the memorial site and in the case of
inclement weather the project will take place at the Ho-Chunk House of
Wellness at S2845 White Eagle Rd, Baraboo, WI.
*Oak Savanna Restoration - White Mound Park 2:00 - 4:00*
Join the Sauk County Parks Department in helping to restore the Oak Savana
at White Mound Park. Parks and Recreation Manager, Matt Stieve, will lead
the group in its efforts and tell the interesting history of the area. Be
sure to wear gardening attire and bring pruners if you have. You are
encouraged to bring your own water and snacks.
*Day of Celebration, October 13 – Sauk County Fairgrounds 10:30 - 5

Ho-Chunk Color Guard cultural arts presentation and Interactive Friendship
Dance 10:30 - 11:30 Sauk County 4th grade art exhibition
A special activity has been developed for all Sauk County 4th graders. Four
Indigenous Peoples' Day banners have been created for this special
exhibition. We are inviting all 4th grade classrooms throughout Sauk County
to participate in this activity. Students are encouraged to choose one to
design and interpret with color. The colored banners will be folded, strung
together, and displayed at the Sauk County Fairgrounds on Sunday, October
13th.

Food fundraiser to benefit HCN Tribal Aging Unit, Meet the President with
Ho-Chunk Nation President Marlon White Eagle, LEAF/hands-on children's art
activity with Melanie Tallmadge Sainz (Ho-Chunk), Ho-Chunk basket
demonstration by Delphine Cloud (Ho-Chunk), Bead art demonstration and
Ho-Chunk Nation Museum exhibit with Josie Lee (Ho-Chunk); One Sauk,
Naturally; Indigenous food demonstration; Man Mound information with Rob
Nurre; Yellow Thunder information with the Sauk County Historical Society;
Native American Veterans display; interactive Moccasin Game demonstration;
and lacrosse clinics and exhibition games with Eric Logan (Ho-Chunk).
