Aslak Lie came to Wisconsin from Norway in 1848, the same year we became
a state. He soon found land at Klevenville east of Mt Horeb in Dane
County. There, he and his family built a log and timber-framed home,
hewn from local materials. The structure was accepted on the National
Record of Historic Places in the 1980’s. In 2003 it was taken
down, moved, and is now being erected on the property of Folklore
Village, near Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
Folklore Village Farm, a non-profit, C-3 corporation, is offering paid
internships for the reconstruction of this historic home. Anyone
interested in working outside, using hand tools, or recovering our
historic legacy is welcome to apply.
