The train depot in Beaver Dam became the museum for the Dodge County Histor
ical Society when it closed. The museum then moved to the library when that
building was vacated. The train station then became the office and visitor
s center for the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce. After using the train stat
ion for nearly 20 years, they did a complete restoration about 10 years ago
.
The museum/library is located next to station/chamber office. The city buil
t a new fire station next to them. They did a great job of blending element
s of the two historical buildings into the new building. Of course, it help
ed that I was president of the historical society at the time and also on t
he city council and chairman of the operations committee.
Let me know if I can give you further information.

Far as I know the South Milwaukee Historical Society"s museum is in a recla
imed train depot, as is the Sparta bike trail building in Tomah. Also the
obvious one is the midcontinent railroad museum in New Freedom WI.

Hi all,
Does anyone know of any train depot rehab projects? If so, can you tell me
where, approximately when, current use and owner? (or as much as you can)
Thanks,
