Subject: Re: Museum store sales

Good morning, The New Glarus Historical Society operating the Swiss Historical Village Museum has had a gift shop in our entrance building for quite a number of years. We sell single serving snacks, soda, water, cheese, chocolate, jams and jellies, honey and some other Swiss/German food items. Here's the link to the WI DATCP information about food sales if you are not already familiar with it:

We also sell local history books, a museum cookbook, some mugs and cooking utensils specific to Swiss/German foods, handmade crafts such as Swiss style doll dresses, Xmas ornaments, knit and crochet items, quilted items, aprons. We had T-shirts made but found that we did not get a return on our initial investment for several years. We sell a few small children's toys and games suitable for travel. We learned in 2019 that as a non-profit with limited sales revenue we were not required to collect sales tax; review this Wisconsin DOR reference, if you're not already familiar with it: https://www.revenue.wi.gov/Pages/faqs/pcs-n-profit.aspx
