The Badger History Group (BHG) invites you to the third lecture of the 2022-2023 season, Wisconsin WWII German POW Camps, presented by Matt Carter. During World War II, more than 400,000 European prisoners of war were housed in U.S. communities, where they worked to offset the wartime labor shortage. There were many in Wisconsin, including Reedsburg. Matt's interest in POW camps started when he grew up in Reedsburg and learned of the camp there. Come learn about this role our area played on the home front!
Matt Carter is Executive Director of the Dakota County Historical Society in South St. Paul, MN. He has a B.S. in Public History and an M.S. in History, and lives in Menomonie, Wisconsin, with his wife, two children and their dog.
