The Badger History Group (BHG) invites you to our next lecture of the 2022- 2023 season on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 7:00 pm with BHG Board Member s Mike Mossman and Heather Sonntag who will co-present, Hidden Gems: Excerp ts of Interviews from the BHG Digitization Project.

BHG has an exceptional collection dating to the 1990s of taped interviews w ith workers of the former BAAP, displaced residents, and members of the Bad ger Village community (including original field tapes from Dave Erickson’ s documentaries), along with earlier Army newscasts, film footage of the pl ant, and training videos. This historical treasure chest was recently digit ized and indexed, using grants from Sauk County and Wisconsin Humanities. C ome hear the skinny about the digital preservation project, and then watch and discuss some previously unshared selections, ranging from old timers re turning to their homesteads and community cemeteries, the first Badger empl oyee, the principal and teachers of Badger Village school, to a HoChunk vet eran, war protestor Karleton Armstrong, and Badger effluent pouring into La ke Wisconsin.

Presenters are BHG founding member and current Vice President Mike Mossman,
and archivist, historian and BHG board member Heather Sonntag.

The digitization project was funded in part by a grant from Wisconsin Human ities, with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Am erican Rescue Plan Act of 2021, and by a grant from the Sauk County Extensi on Education, Arts and Culture Committee and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin. Any views, findings, conclusions or reco mmendations do not necessarily represent those of the grantors.
