Carol,
You only pay an annual fee if you pay the support
contract. When we bought Past Perfect, we paid for me to go to training
for it right away as well. That proved way more valuable than the
support contract, so we never did purchase a support contract. Plus,
their website has a message board where users can post questions and get
answers from other users as well as staff of the company. As far as if
it is worth the cost? I think it is worth way more than what they
charge for it. When we bought it, I couldn't believe how expensive it
is either, but in the process of looking for alternatives I found only
two other options. Software that costs over 10,000 bucks to buy and
DOES require a maintenance fee of several hundred or more each year, or
else make up your own software. I know many organizations have done
that, but in the long run, Past Perfect is way fewer headaches than you
could even imagine you might have by making custom software.

Subject: A question regarding Past Perfect
Hi Everyone,
We are looking for a way to c omputerize the recording of items in our
house museum. Past Perfect was suggested. We recently were told not
only does it cost $800 to purchase but there is a yearly fee for using?
We are wondering if there are alternaqtives to Picture Perfect? We are
wondering if you use it would you say it is worthy of the cost and
yearly fee.
