this is just an idea, but does the WI State Hist. Soc. of magazine and/or catalogs from that period? They would show ads, etc.

I have pics from my grandparents home in the 1920's, and curtains appear to be pretty much lacy straight hanging - kinda an off white. Don't know if they were purchased that color, or just got that color from age.

And the Governor's Mansion should have pics from when the first one was built. After all, we became a state in 1848!
