I'm not sure if this was mentioned yet but the Association of Midwest Museums has a salary survey that was published just last fall and will have an update that also includes benefits later this year. They do define responsibilities for various titles well (although it's probably always most difficult to correlate title and responsibilities in a small organization with a single paid employee).
