Downsville Day Caddie Woodlawn Look-a-Like Contest
Sponsored by the Dunn County Historical Society
The Dunn County Historical Society is holding the 2nd Annual Caddie Woodlawn
Look-a-Like Contest during Downsville Day, August 23, 2008. Prizes will be
awarded in three (3) categories based on the characters from the Caddie
Woodlawn stories: Caddie Woodlawn, other children, and adults.
Contestants will be judged while walking in the Downsville Day Parade. Sign
up for the contest is required before the 11:30am parade line up at The
Creamery. The parade starts at noon and judges will be along the parade
route. Winners announced at 1:30pm at the Town Pavilion.
Contestants must be age appropriate for each category and will be judged on
appearance as depicted in the Caddie Woodlawn "story". Participants are
encouraged to read the books, watch the movie, and look on-line for
appropriate look-a-likes.
The Dunn County Historical Society's Empire in Pine museum will also host a
stone carving demonstration and two special programs by local historians
John Russell and Frank Kennett as part of the Downsville Day Celebration.
Downsville Day includes a full list of activities including a parade,
motorcycle ride, jewelry and Arts & Crafts as well as great food.
Directions: Downsville is located is located at State Highway 25 and County
Road C in Dunn County, Wisconsin. Take I-94 exit 41 for HWY 25 south 9.5
miles.
