Dear Colleagues,
Wisconsin Heritage Online is pleased to announce that we have hired Emily
Pfotenhauer as a Digitization Consultant, a new position funded by a grant
from the Nicholas Family Foundation. Emily will work with the Wisconsin
Heritage Online (WHO) Program Manager Debbie Cardinal to assist small
historical societies, special museums and libraries in building sustainable
digitization programs through training, digitization practice and digital
content development.
Funding has been provided for one year by the Nicholas Family Foundation,
with a second year of funds dependent on Wisconsin Heritage Online meeting
the goals of the training grant proposal.
For the past three years, Emily has worked with the Wisconsin Historical
Society and the Chipstone Foundation to create the Wisconsin Decorative Arts
Database, an online resource of Wisconsin craft and material culture.
Through her work, Emily has become familiar with many Wisconsin historic
sites and their collections. She has experience with PastPerfect, CONTENTdm
(a digital collection management software program, with hosted service from
the Milwaukee Public Library), evaluation and selection of materials,
photography, image editing, data entry and other digitization skills.
Emily has a B.A. and an M.A. in Art History from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, with a certificate in Material Culture Studies.
Emily begins work with Wisconsin Heritage Online June 1.
