Subject: Rural Historical Society Sundaes on Saturday & Margaret Ashmun Day

The Rural Historical Society is serving its annual Sundaes on Saturday on Saturday, June 20th from noon to 4pm
as part of the Waupaca Strawberry Fest Celebration. We will also be celebrating the birthday of Rural's best known author, Margaret Ashmun. Ms Ashmun was a well known author of a series for teen age girls --the Isabel Carleton books--in the 20s and 30s, numerous other novels and was also a professor at UWSP, UW Madison and several eastern universities. Connie Haack Hurlbut, professor at UWSP, did her thesis on Margaret and will be presenting programs at 1 and 3PM. It will all take place at the Society's headquarters building on Main Street in the village of Rural. Rural is about 5+ miles south of Waupaca just off Hwy. 22. Come and enjoy strawberry sundaes and learn about one of Rural's most famous daughters.
