Bunny Cotton-Tail The Most Famous Bunny of All In Southwest Wisconsin Mitchell-Rountree Stone Cottage LANCASTER ROAD & MADISON STREET, PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN ON SUNDAY – JUNE 14
(RAIN DATE JUNE 28) 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.

The lovable children’s book The Tale of Bunny Cotton-Tail by Laura Rountr ee Smith will come to life on the grounds of the Mitchell-Rountree Stone Co ttage, Platteville, Wisconsin on Sunday, June 14, (Rain Date June 28,) as B unny Cotton-Tail Day makes its début.

The Grant County Historical Society is honored and pleased to present an af ternoon of Bunny Cotton-Tail activities for children of all ages with Girl Scout Cadet Troop 2 Platteville. .

Activities begin at 1:00 p.m. with the introduction of the newly created Bu nny Cotton-Tail Garden. The recently created garden offers pathways and ne w features for visitors as they tour the countryside of Bunny Cotton-Tail.
 Visitors will discover the Bunny Cotton-Tail story-board complete with col ored illustrations of the adventures of Bunny.

Following the unveiling of the Bunny Cotton-Tail Garden the newly created B unny Cotton-Tail Puppet Show will begin. The puppet show will be presented
 by the Fever River Puppeteer Company of Hazel Green, Wisconsin.

An instrumental component of the Bunny Cotton-Tail Day is the important rol e of the Girl Scout Troop 2. The girls and leaders and planned, developed,
 and designed the activities, games, face painting, story telling, puppet m aking, presenters, prizes, and all of the equipment needed for the first Bu nny Cotton-Tail Day.

The story and later series of Tale of Bunny Cotton-Tail was created and wri tten by Platteville author Laura Rountree Smith. Laura Rountree Smith was an elementary classroom teacher who created Bunny Cotton-Tail tales for her
 students as a way of teaching them various lessons. Her first Bunny Cotto n-Tail book was published in 1905.

Tours of the Mitchell-Rountree Stone Cottage and grounds will be offered th roughout the afternoon.

            Join us as we celebrate the first Bunny Cotton-Tail Day for a f amily afternoon of Bunny tales, games, crafts, tours, and discovery. Refres hments will be available. For additional information call 608-348
