Kathy, the Mukwonago Museum is funded through a combination of sources. The village owns the building and pay all utilities, maintain the lawn and do any repairs that we need. In addition the village allocates dollars every year in the budget. Not a large amount but it helps with purchases we make. Other funding is through our membership and donations. We do not charge any entrance fee and find that for the most part we do receive more from donations than charging an entrance fee. We have a small gift shop which generates a very small income.

We're interested in knowing how other historical societies are funded, whether private, county or city or mixture of them. Can you help us out?
  Thanks.
