The Military Road is described in "The History of Langlade County" by Robert Dessureau (written in 1922). It did go from Green Bay to the Keweenaw Penninsula in the UP, as you said, and went in part through what is now Langlade County. In part it was constructed as a protection during the Civil War because northern states feared the British and, by extension the Canadians, and sympathetic Indians might help the South. The Military Trail was supposed to help in troup movements should they have to move up to the Canadian border.

The Langlade County Historical Society in Antigo has a copy of Dessureau's book as well as a small book put out by the White Lake Historical Society on the part of the trail that went through Langlade County. I'm not sure how much the books cover the area in Price County.
