We carry a fine arts policy on our collection. With the fine arts
policy, the value of the items in our collection will not depreciate
over time, so the replacement value is the same as when we acquired it.
We do also have a policy that covers anything we have on loan or is
temporarily in one of our facilities.
The policies are very expensive, but necessary. We use General
Casualty.

We are concerned about our collection of artifacts and I am wondering
how other societies handle the insurance issue. Do you carry insurance
on replacement if something should happen such as a fire?
What about incoming loans that are for an exhibit? Are they insured?
Are we responsible for items brought in for the Collection Committee to
determine if we want to accept them?
Are there any companies that have reasonable rates?
