World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra to Perform at the Historic Meyer Theatre
The Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation (WTHP) is proud to present an
"Afternoon Swing" with the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra in concert on
Sunday, April 25th at 2 p.m. at Green Bay's historic Meyer Theatre.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra, world-renowned for their original swing sound,
received the first Gold Record ever issued for Chattanooga Choo-Choo, which
remains the largest selling record of all time. This historic show will be
hosted by WTHP Board Member and theater restoration specialist Mark Ernst,
AIA, of Engberg Anderson. He will be joined by our special guest, Deputy
State Historic Preservation Officer Jim Draeger, who will provide comments
prior to the performance. Copies of the recently published Encore!: The
Renaissance of Wisconsin Opera Houses by Brian Leahy Doyle, and other
Wisconsin Historical Society Press books will be available for purchase in
the lobby. This special matinee event will celebrate the preservation of
Wisconsin's own 1930s originals, the Green Bay Meyer Theater and the
Sturgeon Bay Steel Bridge. This program has received generous support from
Billie Kress and Arketype, both of Green Bay.
Tickets for the event are $25.00 each and include a one-year membership in
the Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation. They are available at
ticketstaronline.com or by calling 1-800-895-0071. They also can be picked
up at the Titletown Brewery in Green Bay.
