"WISCONSIN VIETNAM WAR STORIES: OUR VETERANS REMEMBER" SHARES FIRST-HAND A CCOUNTS OF WAR EXPERIENCE

"Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories is one of the very best oral histories of th e Vietnam War. These veterans' heartfelt recollections make the reader fee l, smell, and taste what life was like for ordinary young Americans sent to
fight thousands of miles from home."
-Robert D. Schulzinger, author of A Time for War: The United States and Vie tnam, 1941-1975

A companion book to the documentary produced by Wisconsin Public Television
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103359641692&s=5818&e=001U1Xtv1vtxlWJ1 yxWtAtVHwPl4GFz5nS6alLtjRS4q7UavSbWdQWndOci6TDUCYtMNliABIAmaVH9sKhk6Rw1E6g4 3bqC-nIsKQVC99HLkG03Fee0HLAFLVJ1iu_L6GmqwPw2uTUe8C_zezao9OTp6icZ4pra2dAy6AG su2phD0-KLNH0CX4yyy_cvrO1pqFA>, "Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories" showcases 4 0 first-person stories from those who fought in America's longest war. From
barely-legal sons of Wisconsin to seasoned soldiers, the men and women in these pages make up a diverse collection of voices: an army chaplain who le d services at Khe Sanh but never picked up a weapon; identical twin brother s who discover they are stationed at the same South Vietnam base; a Hmong r efugee who fought the Secret War at age 12 in the jungles of Laos and later
moved to Milwaukee; two prisoners of war whose years in captivity total al most 14; a Medal of Honor recipient; and dozens more.

The stories in these pages expand beyond the borders of the war to include personal accounts of the events leading up to it, as well as the experience s of veterans as they return home to civilian life at the height of antiwar
protest. Supported by original maps, photographs from the veteran's own co llections, historical chapter introductions, biographies, and a comprehensi ve "honor roll" of Wisconsin-born soldiers who died or remain missing, "Wis consin Vietnam War Stories" is an unforgettable collection and lasting trib ute to our veterans.

"Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories" is a partnership of the Wisconsin Historica l Society and Wisconsin Public Television<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=11 03359641692&s=5818&e=001U1Xtv1vtxlXGPRjaHjLwm6ucuYI3ZfcOliFYigB7DMEfb4e BrW9Kb1Fx8WypIlIT0YYezN_iIu_YZWIdbqIlaz4I_y9TGlmVoA3MMfw_atQrycJwFUKMBg=
