e 21, and the site will remain closed for the next several days while crews
work to clear hundreds of downed trees.
Tornadoes and high winds struck the Eagle area hard Monday evening. Most of
the damage at Old World Wisconsin was to the landscape, leaving the parkin
g lot, visitors center area and many roads on the 576-acre site covered wit
h downed trees and made impassable. The only structural damage reported so
far is roof damage to the historic Ramsey Barn, which houses the museum's g
ift shop, and the octagonal Clausing Barn, which houses a restaurant.

Wisconsin Historical Society staff, along with staff from the Department of
Natural Resources and State Risk Management, are working to clean up the s
ite and make a more complete assessment of the damage. Old World Wisconsin
will reopen as soon as that work is complete and the site is again able to
accommodate visitors.
