Triple Dipper: Ice Cream, Music & Fun
Celebrate National Lighthouse Day Saturday August 7th at the Southport
Light Station Museum, 5117 4th Ave (Simmons Island) Kenosha, WI From
10:00am to 4:00pm. This Event is Free to the Public. Bring a Picnic Lunch
and enjoy!!
After years of extensive remodeling and renovation, the 1867 Light Station
Keeper’s Cottage opened in May 2010 as a maritime museum featuring
artifacts, maps and information of Kenosha’s important 19th century harbor.
The Keeper’s Cottage is adjacent to the 1866 Lighthouse, a climb of 72 steps
to the top of which provides a panoramic view of the Lake Michigan
shoreline.
Therefore August 7, National Lighthouse Day, is an appropriate date for
the Kenosha History Center to invite the public to participate in a family
day of activities which include old fashioned fun: games for children,
music, a celebrity pie eating contest, ice cream sundaes & root beer floats
and other activities in keeping with late 19th and early 20th centuries. We
encourage visitors to bring a picnic lunch, lawn chairs and blankets and
enjoy the grounds of the lighthouse. We will have 15 - 20 picnic tables
available and lots of room for chairs & blankets near the entertainment
stage. After your lunch buy an ice cream sundae or root beer float from our
concession stand for dessert.
We have historic children’s games taking place from 11:00am – 4:00pm. Kids
will get to play with historic toys and compete in a sack race, and hoop
race under the Johnson Bank Tent.
The event opens at 10:00am with live music starting at 11:00am . Here is
the entertainment schedule:

vocal)
