Middleton Area Historical Society to hold grand opening
of new 'Museum at the Depot' on Saturday, Aug. 7
The Middleton Area Historical Society will celebrate the grand opening of
its new "Museum at the Depot" on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The depot is located at 1811 Parmenter St., Middleton, WI. The public is
invited to attend. Admission is free.
The Museum at the Depot will showcase displays that illustrate the history
of Middleton's origins and growth including:
* A timeline of significant events in Middleton's history.
* An elaborately furnished Victorian dollhouse.
* Artifacts from Middleton's early immigrants.
* An exhibit highlighting the significance of the railroad in
Middleton's development.
* Historic photos and documents of Middleton landmarks.
"The train depot on Parmenter Street, which is on the National Registry of
Historic Places and a Middleton Landmark, has played a prominent role in
Middleton history, so it's a very appropriate location for a new museum,"
says Scott Bachmeier, president of the Middleton Area Historical Society.
"The Museum at the Depot along with our well established Rowley House Museum
on Hubbard Avenue will help preserve Middleton history for generations to
come."
The "Museum at the Depot" will be open during Middleton Tourism Visitor
Center hours Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
