Indian Agency House Invites You
to Step Back in Time!
The Historic Indian Agency House is hosting a living history event on Satur
day, September 18, 2010 from 9AM to 5PM. At “A Step Back in Time,
” visitors to the site will get the chance to observe and interact with a
host of 19th-century characters in an authentic historic setting, includ
ing John and Juliette Kinzie (original inhabitants of the circa-1832 Agency
House), a gunsmith, and a militia soldier from Fort Winnebago.
The performers will go about their 19th-century lives in costume and in cha
racter all of Saturday, with special historic demonstrations, activitie
s, and museum house tours scheduled throughout the day. At 11AM, 1PM
, and 4PM, catch a musket shooting demonstration. Then, at 2PM, joi
n us for a 19th -Century Fashion Display & Discussion, featuring our own
Mrs. Kinzie. Mrs. Kinzie will model the latest in 1830s fashion, explaini
ng the functions and development of clothing accessories and styles of the
era. Finally, jump on a special guided tour of the Agency House at 10AM
, noon, or 4PM.
The participating reeneactors are experienced educators with an interest sp
ecifically in the 1830s era. And they can’t wait to share their knowledg
e with you!
This event is free to the public, except for the guided Agency House tour
s for which there is a minimal fee.
