One option would be a Reading & Discussion series. You select books, excerp
ts, or articles to read, like you would with a book club, but then invite p
rofessors and/or experts in the community/region to come and discuss those
readings with the group.
Many libraries host these types of events and organize book clubs, so I'm s
ure they would have suggestions and contacts. An area university is a good
place to look for speakers - and Portal Wisconsin has a military history se
ction at http://portalwisconsin.org/interest_area.cfm?art=11&sb=60.

Subject: Civil War grouop
I am wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on how to set up a Civil
War Study Group...I don't think that would be the correct title but it's al
l I could think of right now. Our society has talked about it a little bit
but don't have any idea about how to get one going and what they actually w
ould do. Any help would be appreciated...
