Heritage Center in New Richmond, is funded partially through the onsite
flea
market that is open on the weekends. People drop off their donations on
scheduled days and we have volunteers manning the flea market on the
drop
off days to sort and price. Then on Saturday and Sunday those same
volunteers sell to people from around the area who come shopping, for
just
about anything. Towards the end of October we ‘ have a big sale’ and
clear
out merchandise. In December we move our flea market to another building
for
“Christmas market’ and enjoy the fruits of the season.
This operation has been very successful and people from both the
community
and the surrounding area are very supportive of our activities, the flea
market has been operating for many years and has become a great source
of
funding-

The Price County Historical Society receives $1,000 from the county and
$200
from the of Fifield where the museum, one room school house, and office
building are located. The town also cuts the grass on our property and
shovels the sidewalks. This past spring the town did a major job by
removing
brush and hauling fill and top soil that had been donated by a neighbor
and
member. At one time there had been a water main leak on the property and
that was repaired by the town at no charge to the society.
Needless to say, we have had some great cooperation from the town crew
and
members of the board. We feel especially appreciative to all of them as
they
support our cause.

Subject: financial help?
I am looking for information from the other Local History Societies
regarding financial support that you get from your local government
entities. Does your township, town, county government support your
organization? financially? other ways?
Thanks for any info that you can send to me.
