Deadlines for 2011 National Trust for Historic Preservation Grants are appr
oaching on February 1st!

ation is now accepting applications for several matching grant programs ava
ilable for projects in Wisconsin (listed below). If you are interested in
applying for one of our grants, now is the time to contact the National Tru
st’s Wisconsin Field Office or the Midwest Office to discuss your potenti
al project and obtain assistance with the application process. We strongly
encourage applicants to work with our office and submit drafts of their app
lications for review and comment in advance of the deadline.
Please note that these funds are for planning grants only - the costs assoc
iated with actual “bricks and mortar” restoration of a structure would
not be fundable. Applicants must be non-profit organizations or public age
ncies to qualify for our grants programs. Please also be aware that applica
nts for the Johanna Favrot, Cynthia Woods Mitchell, and Hart Family Funds a
re competing with a nationwide pool of applicants, while competition for th
e Jeffris Family Preservation Fund is limited to other projects within Wisc
onsin
The Jeffris Family Preservation Fund for Wisconsin provides nonprofit organ
izations and public agencies matching grants from $500 to $5,000 for preser
vation planning and education efforts. Funds may be used to obtain professi
onal expertise in areas such as architecture, archeology, engineering, pres
ervation planning, land-use planning, fund raising, organizational developm
ent and law as well as preservation education activities to educate the pub
lic. This fund is targeted toward projects in small Wisconsin towns with a
population under 10,000. Many organizations have found that Preservation F
unds provided the crucial boost to get a project off the ground.The Jeffris
Family Foundation Preservation Fund uses the Preservation Funds applicatio

project for which funding is requested involves a National Historic Landma
rk. Funds may be used for professional expertise, print and video communica
