The Three Lives of Gaston School The Cottage Grove Area Historical Society' (CGAHS) 12th special topic repor t is back from the printers. The newest report tells of the life of a 100 y ear old Gaston school building, first as a rural school, then as a home, an d now as an arts and craft gallery. (The owners in its last lives converte d the building without changing its size.) We are fortunate to be able to include several photos and anecdotes of each
of the lives in the new report. You may want to visit the Gaston School Gallery. It is located on Co. Hwy N
just south of I-94 a little ways east of Madison. It is open from 10:00 a
.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. You can learn of the history of the building as well as enjoying the arts and crafts. You can also see the
other special topic reports. The gallery is one of CGAHS's sales outlets. See the attachment for copies of the covers of the last three reports and a
list of other topics. We combine our Society's collection of photos and information in a readable
, print format and put the resulting reports in places where the public ca n access them. A courtesy copy of each report is placed in the Monona Grov e School District's four IMCs, three nearby libraries, WHS, and the DCHS ar chives. The Society usually retains 20 to 60 copies of each report to sel l. The reports vary in length, but average about 50 pages.
