Bettsy,
You might also want to contact Ralph Hendersin at Sparta. He put on a
seminar for the historical societies in Dodge County. He has put out a CD
on not only the proper way for cleaning, but also on how to restore and
repair broken headstones. His address and phone number is:
916 St. Anne Street
Sparta, WI 54656-2036
Phone: 608-269-4157
He is a stone's though away from Jerrod Roll at Tomah, who also responded.
Good luck with your project.

Subject: How to Clean headstones
Hello,
I am part on a volunteer cemetery group in Pierce County, restoring a
cemetery which dates back to the Civil War. Does anyone have any ideas on
how to clean moss and lichen from the old limestone headstones without
damaging the headstones?
Thanks,
