We rent out three ( of our 10 ) buildings a bandstand and grounds for weddings, bridal showers, meetings, parties, fund raisers, etc . The people who rent out the facilities have always been good about clean up and we have never have any damage. Our prices are much more competitive than other places. This year alone we have had over 30 rentals, on top of school tours ( 1600 students) and other ad hoc tours from visitors. We do not have staff or volunteers ‘supervise’ any of these events. We have a number for people to call should they run into any difficulty with anything.

We enjoy the extra income that this provides our museum with on top of our year around flea market that we have which sells the donations that people give us -

Any questions please feel free to email or call.

The Geneva Lake Museum does rent our facility whenever we get a chance and we have enjoyed the revenue we receive. We have two areas that people can rent, one a large room with rest rooms and a separate entrance. This has an hourly rent. The other is what we call our Main Street, which resembles a cobblestone street with a black smith's shop, a general store, telephone co, bank, etc on one side and rooms depicting a parlor, bedroom, kitchen, etc on the other side. Tables can be placed down the street and it is very attractive. We have hosted rehearsal dinners, class reunions, anniversary parties, fund raising luncheons, business Christmas parties, etc. Usually there is one staff person and one or two volunteers, depending on the size of the group. We have had a very favorable response whenever we have had groups lease the museum. If anyone wants to talk to me about it, my home phone is 262 248 6249.

Does anyone have experience with allowing outside groups to rent the usage of your museums for political meetings, weddings or receptions, Christmas parties, etc.?

We have been asked if we’d rent out the museum for an evening, by a political party, for a purported Christmas Party. We allowed it last year, but many of our board

members now have reservations about continuing the practice.

How do other museums handle this kind of request?
