I was very pleased with our event, however we only filled about half of the
slots, since this was our first time, but we plan to make it an annual eve nt as long as there is interest. Two ladies came after I let him leave, so it is important to have him stay for late arrivals who come without an appo intment. It is best to publicize it well in advance and to your members and
it works best to set up 4 or 5 minute time blocks. He can handle 40 apprai sals in a 3 hour time block, so dividing 180 minutes by 40 it comes to abou t 4.5 minutes per item. If you select 4 minute time slots it leaves about 2 0 minutes extra. He was able to begin right on time so it isn't necessary t o allow 10 minutes setup as he does this 10 minutes before the event begins
. We stayed ahead of schedule all afternoon. You can also allow some 5 minute breaks in between the hourly schedule. All
in all things went very smoothly. Bruce Runnels, Curator & Treasurer Waushara County Historical & Genealogical Society

The Marshall (WI) Friends of the Library had Mark for an Antique Appraisal event earlier this month.  I went over to "observe" as we, The Waterloo Area Historical Society were also contacted for an appraisal event next year by Mark. Marshall and Waterloo are four miles apart.  There were many Waterloo people over at the event held in Marshall.  I thought Mark did a super job of appraising and people could come and listen and observe what he said, as it was set up so everyone could see and hear.  However, we decided not to entertain the idea of having Mark in April next year as we thought we might be, as recently our Antique Mall has hired a person who is certified to do appraising. We would use it as a fund raiser, Marshall Friends of the Library had 19 people pay $15 for the appraisal, $10 went to Mark and
$5 to the Friends.  I am not sure if mileage or other extra costs were involved.

Hope this helps in your decision making,  Maureen Giese, Waterloo Area Historical Society
