That seems like a VERY bad idea to me. The treasurer needs to be accountab
le to the board, and should be at meetings whenever possible to deal with f
inancial issues and answer funds availability questions. If you want this
person as treasurer, they will also be an asset to the board. Invite them
to join, and if necessary pay their dues (if that is the issue). Otherwise
, avoid it like a hot potato, and elect someone from the board to treasurer
.
