Subject: Walking Tour of Historic Madison Neighborhood on September 28

Orton Park Neighborhood Sept. 28 Walking Tour Marks Madison Trust for H istoric Preservation’s 40th Anniversary
  For generations Ort on Park on Madison’s near east side has been a place of relaxatio n, recreation and celebration. But in Madison’s early days, the a rea served as a final resting place for the dearly departed. Orton Park a nd the surrounding residential neighborhood will be the focus of the Madi son Trust for Historic Preservation’s (MTHP) Sunday afternoon, Se pt. 28, 2014, historic architecture tour. Timed tickets for the two-hour wa lking tour are $30 ($25 for MTHP members) and can be purchased at www.mad isonpreservation.org. Limited tickets may be available the day of the tou r. Tour groups will leave every half hour between 1:00 and 4:30 p.m. fr om Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1021 Spaight St. Parking is available in the
 church’s parking lots. The tour of one of Madison’s old est neighborhoods, part of the historic Third Lake Ridge, will include ma ny exteriors, three interiors, and one garden. Participants will see home s designed by local architects in distinctive styles as diverse as Italia nate, Queen Anne, Greek and Tudor revival, Craftsman and Prairie.
