History of quilting and current quilting resurgence
explored at Oct. 26 Iola Historical Society presentation
Iola, WI: Barb Kobs, a driving force behind the Norske Needlers - an Iola-a
rea quilters group, brings her quilting expertise to the Iola Historical So
ciety Monday , Oct. 26. The free program is open to the public and starts a
t 6:30 p.m., with the Society’s regular monthly meeting following a
fterwards, at approximately 7:15 p.m. The presentation will be held at the
Society’s “Machine Shed” at 222 Depot Street.
Entitled “Quilting, Past and Present,” Kobs’ presen
tation weaves a colorful history of the art form. Quilts are made not only
for added warmth on beds, but are also exquisite works of art. She will hav
e a number of vintage and recently-made quilts on display for her presentat
ion.
Norske Needlers members have made quilts in the past for the Iola Historica
l Society to use as the main prize in the Society’s annual Taste of
Norway & Lost Arts Fair raffle.
