A trio of archivists from the University of Wisconsin-Madison return to the ir roots to present ways to preserve personal and family history in Norther n Wisconsin. Amy Sloper, head film archivist at the Wisconsin Center for Fi lm and Theater Research, and Catherine Hannula and Jenny Barth, students in
 archival studies at the School of Library and Information Studies will pre sent digitizing workshops as well as offer preservation advice for family h istory materials such as home videos, photographs, slides, and other precio us documents, to the communities of Bayfield, Barnes and Eau Claire from Ju ly 22­24. Attendees are heavily encouraged to bring their own family memo rabilia to the event for digitization as well as advice on long-­term sto rage and care. This event is sponsored by the Wisconsin Center for Film & T heater Research, the Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment,
 the UW­Madison School of Library & Information Studies, the Bayfield Car negie Library and the Barnes Historical Society.

Details are as follows:

Do you have family history hiding in your attic? Are there home movies tha t you haven't thought about in years stashed at the back of your closet? B ring your family materials to the Northwoods Tour!

Archivists will answer questions and give advice on storing and managing yo ur precious family archive materials.

We will offer 30 minute digitization appointments for the following formats
:

home movies: VHS, VHS­C, DVD, miniDV/DVCam, Digital8/Hi8/8mm audiocassett es photographs, slides, negatives paper documents: letters, diaries, etc.
