Websites can be expensive to maintain with not only ongoing costs but costs to update. I think a reasonable solution is a static page on a village or city website (hopefully free) and then use social media for most ongoing notices and communications etc. We use a Facebook page
(one could use a group).

To have a website that gets updated regularly it has cost us about
$500/year and really not been worth it (in my opinion). Many older folks are better reached through the local newspaper events pages and younger folks seem to be best in touch through social media.

A couple of the static pages were on rootsweb but that service has been done since December 23rd and won't be back up for a few more weeks.
