Six Unique Flavors Designed by UW Platteville Students Vie to be #1!
The Mount Horeb Area Historical Society asks for your help deciding the site-exclusive, can’t-get-it-ice anywhere-else ice cream Flavor of the Year, to be featured in the Driftless Historium History Center & Gift Shop throughout 2018.
Community feedback is requested via an upcoming ice cream taste testing,
to be held on-site (100 S 2nd St, Mt Horeb) on Monday, March 19
from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The event is open to the first two hundred taste testers, with a suggested donation of $2.00 per person or $5.00 per household. Any proceeds will be earmarked for MHAHS educational programs and events.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample six unique ice cream concoctions and record their favorites. Ingredients and flavors found somewhere in the six flavors include, but are not limited to, cherry tomatoes, pineapple, bacon, olive oil, wasabi, cilantro and sweet potatoes.
UW Platteville students in Dr. Tera Montgomery’s Dairy Sciences and Dr. Lucie Kadjo’s Agri-Business Spring 2018 classes are competing in groups to produce the winning flavor—to be debuted at the June 2, 2018 “Native American Marketplace & Exhibit Opening.” Representatives from each team will be on hand to answer questions about flavor profiles and the production process.
The tasty partnership has received support and funding from UWP’s Pioneer Academic Center for Community Engagement (PACCE). Based on an application and screening process, PACCE provides financial support for outreach projects that connect UWP students with the greater community.
