Hi, Cathi - as you know, actual clothing from the 19th century can be so
fragile - not to mention tiny. Here are some great sources for historic
sewing patterns so folks can re-create comfortable historic costumes:

Reconstructing History (https://reconstructinghistory.com)

In 3 years the City of Peshtigo will celebrate 150 years since the Great
Peshtigo Fire. Do you ever come across clothing from the time frame of
1871? We are going to gear our celebration to encourage everyone to dress
in that era.

COSTUME SOCIETY OF AMERICA WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CLOTHING or FASHION
EXHIBITS
Do you know about the Costume Society of America? It is an organization that
encourages the study of dress and appearance around the world and through
history. As the curator who handles the clothing and textile collection for
the Wisconsin Historical Society, CSA has been a great place to hang out
with my peers and learn more about the history of clothing. As a board
member of the Midwest Region, I have been asked to report on clothing
exhibits or other events related to the history of clothing happening in
Wisconsin.
If you have an upcoming exhibit or event and would like it publicized to the
Costume Society's Midwest membership in their quarterly newsletter, please
let me know. I can be reached at 608-264-6551 or
