Hi Bill,
The Wisconsin Historical Society has a traveling display that includes racist and dated language in facsimiles of original documents. On the display, we included the following disclaimer:
"This exhibit contains language and images that may be offensive to some viewers. The Wisconsin Historical Society does not condone the use of this language but includes it as an accurate reflection of society in the time shown."
Hope this helps,

Subject: Racist Language
We are putting articles on our Web site which were written 100 years plus ago, some of which include language which today, is considered raciest. Do we eliminate the raciest language or do we include a disclaimer which indicates that these descriptions were indicative of the time in which they were written? What do other historical societies do?
